Important Licensing & Support Notes
Domain Controller Prerequisite: Windows Server 2016 Essentials must be configured as the root Domain Controller (DC) and Certificate Authority for your network, and it must hold all Flexible Single Master Operations (FSMO) roles.

Processor & Virtualization Limits: Supports a maximum of 2 physical processors and up to 64 hardware cores. The license covers a single instance on a physical server; if run inside a virtual machine (Hyper-V), it cannot be used on the physical host simultaneously.

Lifecycle Awareness: Please note that Windows Server 2016 has reached the end of its Extended Support phase (as of January 2027).
